During this internship you will investigate a choice of topics to help improve water resource management in the fashion and textile industry.
You’ll join a small nonprofit organization based in Berlin, Germany, operating at a global level to transform the textiles and fashion industries and protect our natural water resources from abuse and pollution. They address these issues at a number of levels, funding WASH projects in communities affected by water pollution from textile mills, and corporate campaigns helping fashion brands to reduce their water footprint.
As an intern, your work will revolve around gathering data and information on water waste in these industries and innovative solutions to reducing water footprint. You’ll have a broad range of topics to investigate and your research is used for potential projects as well as online campaigns and lobby work.
Drip by Drip is a highly specialized organization dedicated to tackling the niche but pervasive issue of water waste in the textile industry. Based in Berlin, Germany, this is a multinational organization that operates in Bangladesh, Kenya, and Pakistan with plans to expand to more countries where the textiles and fashion industry is prevalent.
They operate on a number of levels, funding WASH campaigns for communities severely affected by water pollution, running educational awareness campaigns for relevant stakeholders in related industries, and conducting corporate projects where they help brands and textile mills reduce their water footprint by connecting them with innovative solutions. Drip by Drip’s goal is to transform the industry and protect our natural water resources from abuse and pollution.
Interns play a big part in a small team in this program. You’ll contribute to varied research projects on water waste issues in the textile industry and analyze environmental impact data. You’ll also play a role in the creation of impactful communication materials on the topic.
The accommodation is not included with the fee, but depending on availability, we can assist with the option to stay in a student accommodation in the heart of Berlin’s Kreuzberg district. There are single, double, triple, and quad rooms, each with their own bathroom, fridge, and microwave. You’ll also have access to the campus’s shared kitchens and laundry rooms, along with a front desk for any assistance you may need. Rooms are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed until your internship dates have been confirmed, so send us a message to inquire about Berlin housing and fees well in advance to your desired start date.
Germany has low crime rates and a strong rule of law, ensuring personal safety. Additionally, Germany’s healthcare and social systems offer a safety net for interns, providing access to healthcare and social services when needed, further enhancing the overall support system for interns pursuing nonprofit opportunities.
Your accommodation provides free Wifi access to stay in touch with family and friends during your stay. The mobile network in Germany is good and if you have a European sim card in your phone, you can use your data here at no extra cost.
Meals are not included in the fees. You can prepare your own meals in your accommodation or go out.

Unfortunately, we are not able to guarantee housing. You’ll be responsible for your accommodation for the duration of your placement. We will happily provide suggestions and any advice we can to help you make these arrangements. The eligibility for university credits depends on your university’s policies. Regrettably, stipends are not offered for internships in the nonprofit sector. Nevertheless, there are diverse avenues to finance your internship journey. Despite the absence of financial support and compensation, the wealth of knowledge and the myriad of opportunities for both professional and personal growth are immeasurable. When considering the pursuit of an unpaid internship, it is crucial to weigh the non-monetary benefits, including mentorship, skill development, and industry insights.
