Event Management Internship in The Netherlands

Gain hands-on event management experience in the context of a volunteer organization.

This internship is a great opportunity to develop event management skills whilst experiencing life in the bustling, colorful city of Amsterdam. You’ll play an important role supporting corporate volunteering projects and helping to bring communities closer together.

This organization provides an innovative service for the city. It supplies local community-led volunteer initiatives with volunteer workers. Simultaneously, it provides big businesses and corporations with team-building events in the form of volunteer activities. They believe volunteering is not only a great way to give back to the community, but can also help maintain a happy healthy atmosphere in the workplace.

This is a multi-faceted project with a vast network of volunteering initiatives and many ongoing projects, so interns can expect a great variety of work. You’ll work closely with project managers to organize, coordinate, and execute volunteer projects, corporate team building activities, impact days and a range of other events.

Learning objectives:

  • Secure hands on experience in event management
  • Develop skills in project management, event planning, and professional communication
  • Build a portfolio of planned volunteering events
  • Gain insight into ngo management

Serve the City Amsterdam is part of a global movement of volunteers with the uniting goal to show kindness and caring to people across the world. Their Amsterdam branch is the city’s largest initiative of volunteer programs. With links to homeless shelters, refugee centers, orphanages, urban-greening efforts, and hostels for victims of abuse, they work in part to supply and coordinate a workforce of volunteers to goodwill projects, and in part to provide a connecting nexus between like-minded volunteers throughout the city.

Through their initiative Serve the City at Work, they organize customized team building events, workshops, and impact days for organizations as well as allowing them access to their vast network of volunteer initiatives around the city. Their volunteer activities include home visits for the elderly and disabled, grocery shopping and delivery, transportation, companionships, soup kitchens, and litter-picking.

As an intern, you’ll gain access to a vast network of volunteering activities through contributing to ongoing projects, regular events, and volunteering programs. This could be anything from cooking at homeless shelters, helping at petting farms, to taking the elderly on a walk, to litter picks.
