Nature-in all of its beautiful forms-is best viewed in Uganda’s extensive ecosystems. The country’s weather is tropical, which luckily means that anytime is a good time in Uganda. EXPLORING KAMPALA

The diverse population comes together in the cultural hub of the capital city, Kampala. This city boasts of small parks, public gardens, and a scenic waterfront walk along Lake Victoria. History buffs will enjoy the Uganda museum which features a large array of traditional musical instruments. Before the British, Kampala was the capital city of the Buganda Kingdom, whose historical effects can still be felt today. The city still has historical sites that can be visited like the Kasubi Tombs. The historical site remains an important example of ancient architecture and serves as the burial ground for Buganda Kings. Outdoor explorers can find multiple tour companies that will arrange mountain biking, hiking, or rafting expeditions.

INTERN TESTIMONIALS

“My internship placement in Uganda was the time of my life. The location was incredible. A small, pretty undeveloped island on Lake Victoria, teeming with beautiful and diverse wildlife and no shortage of places to explore. I spent my days doing community and environment-oriented projects, laughing with the most hilarious kids I’ve ever met, and being fully immersed in the local culture.” -Charlotte, Roots Interns
