Through research, business model development, and proposals you will have the freedom to discover and implement new groundbreaking ideas to better tackle ongoing challenges. Under the mentorship of a supervisor, collaborate and lead discussions on key issues and form strategic enterprise development plans designed to create sustainable, real-world results.
Between both hand-on on work within local communities and office planning, you will have the opportunity to develop skills such as decision-making that will better equip you for fast-paced environments. Offered either in-person or remotely, you have the option to participate from the comfort of your home or become immersed in the rich culture of South Africa. While an in-person experience would be truly unforgettable, both options offer the ability to gain transferable skills and direct involvement.
Learning Objectives
This South African registered nonprofit operates at the intersection of youth empowerment, gender equality, climate resilience, and access to justice, delivering community-driven and evidence-based programs that address the root causes of social inequality. Working alongside communities, corporate social investors, and fellow nonprofit organizations, the organization implements interventions across areas including gender-based violence prevention, skills development, support for persons with disabilities, and care for orphans and vulnerable children.
Guided by a multidisciplinary team of senior mentors and technical advisors, its programs equip young people, particularly women and other vulnerable groups, with practical experience, workplace readiness, and leadership skills. Through this work, the organization has produced a growing pipeline of emerging leaders who are now driving grassroots initiatives and contributing to sustainable development in their communities.
Due to constant changes faced by local communities, interns should come with an open-mind and awareness of unforeseen challenges. Project assignments will vary depending on the interns skills, backgrounds, interests, and period of involvement.
