Accommodations are in relatively rural communities, and interns are expected to remain open-minded, curious, and respectful of local culture and traditions.

For personal Internet access and staying connected with friends & family, you’ll be able to top up your local mobile data plan. Consider purchasing an e-SIM to ensure connection upon arrival. Make sure your personal mobile phone is unlocked for international carriers. Based on the nature of where you’ll be staying, you should expect occasional network fluctuations and power outages.

Your host family will provide three meals each day. Ugandan meals are simple and fresh. On a typical plate, you might find matooke (green banana), rice, beans, groundnut (peanut) sauce, vegetables, sweet potatoes, cassava, Irish potatoes, or occasionally chicken, fish, and beef.
