Internships with the Tangaré Foundation

The Tangaré Foundation is a longstanding, nonprofit organization on a mission to promote conservation and sustainable use of the Cloud Forest through research, natural resource management and environmental education. Their work has helped protect the Cloud Forest and its wildlife since 2009 and remains a valuable asset to rainforest conservation.

They operate within the La Hesperia Cloud Forest Reserve and in close allegiance with the organization that runs it. This 800 hectare reserve is located on the western slope of the Ecuadorian Andes and is a hub of productive activities driven by the principles of organic farming, permaculture, and sustainable tourism. From this site the Tangaré Foundation researches ecology and conservation of the region’s biodiversity, promotes natural resource management through sustainable land use and forest conservation, and raises awareness of environmental issues among local communities through educational projects.

Why Intern with Tangaré Foundation

Find out from our previous interns how internships with Tangaré Foundation can jumpstart your professional career and expand your soft skills.

Being surrounded by tropical cloud forest was a dream come true. I have greatly appreciated the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in small-scale organic farming. I assisted with biological research studies, helped manage animal and plant agricultural plots and stalls, and prepared & roasted coffee & cacao. This internship has taught me about the gift of reciprocity and the importance of caring for plants and animals so they can care for you. I've always wanted my desire for environmental conservation and sustainability to be what I do for a living, and this internship has provided me with a glimpse of... See More
