Internships with MOSAIC

MOSAIC Training Services and Healing Centre for Women was established in 1993 as a non-governmental organization. This was made in response to violence against women, domestic violence, sexual violence, and lack of access to sexual reproductive health rights services and rights education. For 30 years, they have been helping deliver a range of social support services and projects to survivors who are mainly women and girls, however, they also offer a male counseling and preventative program.

By choosing one of our offered MOSAIC internships, you will not only join their dedication to combating gender-based violence, but you’ll also get to contribute to an important cause and gain valuable skills and experience.

Why Intern with MOSAIC

Find out from our previous interns how internships with MOSAIC can jumpstart your professional career and expand your soft skills.

My intership was an invaluable opportunity to deepen my understanding of gender-based violence within the South African context. Working across various departments, I gained practical skills in trauma-informed care, psychosocial support, community education, and economic empowerment projects. Beyond the technical learning, I was inspired by the supportive and open-hearted team atmosphere, which fostered both professional growth and personal reflection. This experience has confirmed my passion for wokring in the GBV support field and equipped me with skills I'll carry forward into my future career.

Carina, German – Evangelische Hochschule Nuremberg

Women's Support NGO Internship, South Africa

My internship was an incredibly valuable experience for both personal and academic growth! Having the independence to lead a project taught me to push past my own limitations, take initiative, and confidently reach out to others for collaboration. I also gained deep insight into the social and historical context of South Africa—particularly in relation to gender-based violence—which significantly enriched my academic perspective. Working in the NGO sector challenged me to adapt to a different working culture, one that was more intuitive and flexible compared to the structured, formal environments I was used to. This shift helped me become more adaptable... See More

Hannah, German – Leuphana University

Women's Support NGO Internship, South Africa

This internship taught me a lot of things in my personal and professional development, but the most valuable has been in building my confidence in who I am and what I'm capable of. My internship focused on the prevention side of gender-based violence work and I got to co-facilitate workshops, sit in on SAFE meetings, go directly into communities, write reports, and most importantly, experience the difference in daily life and perceptions. When I was originally taught about gender equality, it was always so focused on women, but my internship really highlighted the importance of also creating safe spaces for... See More
