Internships with a Health Education nonprofit

New Heritage Foundation is an all-women-led nonprofit organisation working to end period poverty through sexual reproductive health and rights education. Their belief is that menstruation with dignity is a human right and they are committed to ensuring that no girl is left behind in the realisation of this goal. Based in Cape Town, they operate in schools in and around the city, running educational programs for boys and girls on topics such as sexual health, menstrual hygiene, female empowerment, and consent. As well as this, they run skill development workshops teaching women to sew non-disposable, sustainable sanitary pads. In this way, not only does New Heritage Foundation combat period poverty and destigmatize menstruation, they uplift disadvantaged communities and empower young women to build a brighter future for themselves.
