Be the voice of MT Foundation by promoting its mission and initiatives through the creation of engaging and on-brand content. Interns can contribute through graphic design, visual storytelling, social media management, and digital campaign support. As a key part of increasing brand awareness, interns have the creative freedom to produce content and evaluate its performance. This internship provides the chance to develop skills in communication, branding, and advocacy while supporting a nonprofit dedicated to driving social change in rural South African communities.
Under the mentorship of the Communications & Media Supervisor, this internship can be completed either in-country or full remotely. An in-country experience allows interns the opportunity to gather original content firsthand, while remote interns play an equally important role in developing marketing strategies and producing content using existing media. By the end of the internship, participants will have developed tangible examples of their contributions to real-world marketing initiatives.
Learning Objectives
This South African registered nonprofit operates at the intersection of youth empowerment, gender equality, climate resilience, and access to justice, delivering community-driven and evidence-based programs that address the root causes of social inequality. Working alongside communities, corporate social investors, and fellow nonprofit organizations, the organization implements interventions across areas including gender-based violence prevention, skills development, support for persons with disabilities, and care for orphans and vulnerable children.
Guided by a multidisciplinary team of senior mentors and technical advisors, its programs equip young people, particularly women and other vulnerable groups, with practical experience, workplace readiness, and leadership skills. Through this work, the organization has produced a growing pipeline of emerging leaders who are now driving grassroots initiatives and contributing to sustainable development in their communities.
Content collection may include exposure to affected groups within communities of South Africa. Interns should be aware of potential challenges that could arise and communicate their intentions when filming to ensure respectful interactions.
Project assignments will be based on interests, background, creative abilities, and period of involvement.
