Besides the experience it has added to my resume, this internship gave me a lot of insight into what I want to do in the future. I learned about how a nonprofit operates, which was very illuminating. The experience was very enjoyable and I got to do a variety of work. My tasks included running the social media accounts, Google Ads campaign, data entry and analysis, designing graphics, and creating a Wikipedia page. I’ve always seen myself in a job with people of different cultures. It is actually a dream of mine to work in English and talk to people from different parts of the world. The nonprofit I joined had an international team, plus my internship project involving creating connections in Latin America. Communication between different cultures is a topic I have read about before and it’s useful for what I plan to do in the future. In the internship, I really applied my intercultural communications skills and learned from the experience.I’ve always seen myself in a job with people of different cultures. Roots has been very easy to communicate with from the start and was a massive help in finding my internship. The short-term experience with my internship organization was also amazing! The managers are all very approachable and offered tons of support and suggestions to help improve my work.
