I am so grateful that Roots introduced me to my host organization and supervisors. With their help, I was able to secure an internship that perfectly fit my learning desires. I engaged in a variety of tasks; working in a women’s safe house twice a week and once a week at a recovery center, with the other days being spent at a youth center in a township working with around 80 kids daily. I’m proud of the work I did which required focus, commitment, self-reflection, and handling challenging environments. The diverse program had me doing tasks that helped me gain more experience in the field of psychology that I plan to have a career in and gave me a true insight into what I want to do in the future.
