I had an amazing time over my three months in Costa Rica. It was a different way of living than in the US — but it was such a good change. It opened my eyes to a new part of the world, allowed me to see parts of Costa Rica I wouldn’t have been able to see on my own, and experience a new way of life. I met so many people from all over the world and so many lifelong friends were made. I eventually got over my fear of bugs and really enjoyed living the Costa Rican lifestyle! I learned so much about animal care, was able to develop my own project on the spider monkeys, and help contribute to the nonprofit. The sanctuary here cares so much about the animals and everything we do is for them. Everyone is part of a collaborative effort to save injured animals and you can tell how much work is put into the sanctuary. The staff, the interns, and all of the volunteers make it what it is. I loved this experience and would totally do it again if I had the chance.
