Amanda, American – Indiana University

Living on the eco-lodge and being directly involved with community development projects further inspired my passion for sustainable tourism, and my goals of pursuing a career that values the circular economy. By being exposed to new business models, I expanded my knowledge to apply what I’ve learned in different settings and industries around the world. As the organization runs such a diverse range of projects, I assisted in a variety of tasks. I took on email campaigns, writing & designing newsletters, social media content creation & posting, online fundraising, grant research & writing, comprising an overall communications map & strategy, writing website copy, and doing project visits and assessments. I also set up Google Analytics tracking, got to have a bit of bartending training, and I assisted with project management to coordinate and facilitate on-the-ground work. There was always something to do and learn; whether it be for the lodge directly or a specific program.
