Communications & PR Internship in Germany

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Raise awareness for an often overlooked aspect of the climate crisis and build a varied skill set in communications and PR.

This internship places you at the epicenter of a global network of experts from the fields of textiles and fashion industries where you’ll help tackle issues of water pollution and waste. This is the ideal internship for those with a passion for fashion and the environment, looking to get ahead in communications and PR.

You’ll work with a multinational nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing issues of water waste in the fashion and textiles industry. With a  wide-reaching impact, their projects include funding wash programs in Kenya, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, and corporate advocacy and awareness drives helping brands and textile mills to reduce their water footprint.

Your role as an intern will revolve around raising awareness of the issue and promoting the organization’s innovative solutions.  You’ll gain a broad communications and PR skill set and industry-spanning networking opportunities while making an impact in this overlooked niche of the climate crisis.

ORGANIZATION

Drip by Drip is a highly specialized organization dedicated to tackling the niche but pervasive issue of water waste in the textile industry. Based in Berlin, Germany, this is a multinational organization that operates in Bangladesh, Kenya, and Pakistan with plans to expand to more countries where the textiles and fashion industry is prevalent.

They operate on a number of levels, funding WASH campaigns for communities severely affected by water pollution, running educational awareness campaigns for relevant stakeholders in related industries, and conducting corporate projects where they help brands and textile mills reduce their water footprint by connecting them with innovative solutions. Drip by Drip’s goal is to transform the industry and protect our natural water resources from abuse and pollution.

TASKS & REQUIreMENTS

This internship offers a varied day-to-day. Mentored by the organization’s communications manager, you’ll take on tasks in marketing, communications, and PR.

Responsibilities

  • Brainstorming and strategizing online campaigns
  • Social media management and content creation
  • Liaising with partners, donors, and relevant stakeholders in the fashion, textiles, and water resource management industry
  • Copywriting for websites, newsletters, and blogs
  • Preparing press releases for events

Requirements

  • Academic background: must have completed a bachelor’s degree, be enrolled in a master’s program, or have prior work experience in communications/PR
  • Passion for the fashion and the environment
  • Excellent English language skills and strong written and verbal communication
  • Capacity to work as part of a team and independently
  • International mindset with an understanding of global issues
  • Attention to detail and adherence to deadlines

WHERE YOU’LL STAY

The accommodation is not included with the fee, but depending on availability, we can assist with the option to stay in a student accommodation in the heart of Berlin’s Kreuzberg district. There are single, double, triple, and quad rooms, each with their own bathroom, fridge, and microwave. You’ll also have access to the campus’s shared kitchens and laundry rooms, along with a front desk for any assistance you may need. Rooms are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed until your internship dates have been confirmed, so send us a message to inquire about Berlin housing and fees well in advance to your desired start date.

Your accommodation provides free Wifi access to stay in touch with family and friends during your stay. The mobile network in Germany is good and if you have a European sim card in your phone, you can use your data here at no extra cost.

  • An academic internship eligible for university credit. Check with your university to confirm if this internship qualifies for credit or alternatively we can assist you with purchasing transfer credits.
  • Assistance with your visa arrangement and other preparations

  • Supervision and support during your stay
  • Regular check-ins during your internship with your supervisor
  • Troubleshooting if needed
  • A reference letter at the end of your internship

Will my accommodation be arranged for the internship?

Unfortunately, we are not able to guarantee housing. You’ll be responsible for your accommodation for the duration of your placement. We will happily provide suggestions and any advice we can to help you make these arrangements. Are internships in Germany eligible for university credits?

The eligibility for university credits depends on your university’s policies.
